The first semifinal of the 2022 T20 World Cup provides a mouth-watering clash between Pakistan and New Zealand in Sydney on Wednesday, November 9. While the Kiwis had a pretty simple winning formula to reach the semifinals, the Men in Green might find themselves lucky to have made it to the semis after favourites South Africa fell to a shock loss to the Netherlands, meaning a win over Bangladesh was enough to take them through.

And with New Zealand having missed out on a chance to win their first T20 World Cup in 2021, they seem like a team with a mission. Ahead of their match, we take a look at the head-to-head statistics of the two teams in the T20 World Cup, as well as in various ICC tournaments.

Head-to-head: T20 World Cup
Pakistan will have to face a formidable New Zealand side, who beat defending champions and hosts Australia by a massive 89 runs on the way to the top of group 1. But the 2009 T20 World Cup champions have a superior record over the Kiwis in the history of the T20 World Cup. The two sides have met in every edition of the T20 World Cup except in 2014. Of these, Pakistan has only lost twice in six meetings, including a comprehensive five wicket-victory over their semifinal opponents in 2021.
