Former India captain and maverick batter, Virat Kohli notched yet another feather in his glittering career after he became the leading run-scorer in the history of the T20 World Cup. The 33-year-old stylish Indian batter broke former Sri Lanka captain and legendary batter, Mahela Jayawardene's record during his innings against Bangladesh on November 02 (Wednesday). Kohli has played 25 matches in the T20 World Cup, scoring 1,017 runs (at the time when the record was broken) at an average of 84.75 and with a strike rate of 131.56. Earlier, Jayawardene held the record with 1,016 runs in 31 matches in the ICC multi-national tournament.
Virat Kohli has already played one breathtaking knock in the ongoing T20 World Cup. Kohli's knock of 82 not out in 53 balls against Pakistan will be indelibly edged in history. Kohli has scored two half-centuries in the 2022 T20 World Cup so far. Since returning after a brief break, Kohli has found his lost mojo with the bat.
Virat is the only player to have won two player of the tournament awards in the T20 World Cup. He bagged the prize in 2014 and 2016.

In 2016, Kohli scored 273 runs in five matches with the help of three half-centuries. he averaged 136.50 in the 2016 edition of the tournament.
In 2021, Kohli scored 68 runs in five matches with the help of one half-century. He averaged 34 in the 2021 edition of the tournament.
In 2022 so far, Kohli has scored 179 runs in four matches with the help of two half-centuries. He currently averages 179.00 and has a strike rate of 142.06.
