U-19 World Cup: Uday Saharan leads run-scoring charts, Sarfaraz Khan's brother makes it to top 5 batters list

India captain Uday Saharan took Team India to Under-19 World Cup 2024 final but failed to notch their sixth title. India came down crashing in the Under-19 World Cup final as they failed to chase down the record total of 253/7 set by Australia as they were restricted to mere 174. With this, Australia notched their fourth U-19 World Cup title.

Saharan could only score eight runs in the summit clash. However, his played a remarkable knock of 81 runs off 124 balls against South Africa in the semi-final, leading the team to victory.

Saharan on top despite defeat

This innings propelled Uday to the top of the tournament's run-scoring chart, with a total of 397 runs in seven matches. With this, two more Indian batters are included in this list. Sarfaraz Khan's brother, Musheer Khan, holds the second position. Musheer is also in excellent form in the tournament, having scored a total of 360 runs in seven matches. India, the five-time U-19 champions and defending titleholders, were aiming for an unprecedented sixth title. They had maintained an unbeaten streak throughout the tournament, defeating teams like Bangladesh, Ireland, USA, New Zealand, Nepal, and hosts South Africa in a gripping semi-final.

Australia secured their fourth U19 World Cup title with this victory. Apart from India and Australia, only Pakistan has won more than one World Cup title at the U19 level.
