Live India vs Australia 5th T20I: : The covers are seen over the pitch during game five of the T20 International series between Australia and India at The Gabba on November 08, 2025 in Brisbane, Australia

India vs Australia 5th T20I highlights: India pocketed the series after their fifth T20I against Australia was abandoned due to incessant rain at the Gabba on November 8. India's innings, after being put in to bat, got off to a blistering start with Abhishek Sharma (23 not out off 13 balls) and Shubman Gill (29 not out off 16 balls) pushing the team to a commanding position. India were placed at 52/0 when the rain gods abruptly halting the game. Soon after, heavy rain lashed the Gabba, ultimately forcing the match to be abandoned.

Swashbuckling opener Abhishek Sharma was deservedly named the "Player of the Series" for his consistently explosive performances throughout the contest. This series victory is a significant confidence boost for captain Suryakumar Yadav and his squad as they look ahead to the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026.

In the final T20I, Australia captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and chose to bowl first. Team India made a blazing start, reaching 52 runs without any loss in just 4.5 overs before the weather interrupted play. Openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill were both unbeaten at the crease. Abhishek had quickly scored 23 runs off 13 balls, including a boundary and a six, while Gill had hammered six boundaries in his 29 runs off 16 balls.

This innings also saw Abhishek Sharma achieve a personal milestone, becoming the second-fastest Team India batsman to complete 1,000 runs in the shortest format of the game. On the bowling front for Australia, Ben Dwarshuis had been expensive, conceding 27 runs in his two overs, and Nathan Ellis gave away 12 runs in his single over. The match was paused during Xavier Bartlett's second over, where he had given away 13 runs in 1.5 overs. For this final clash in Brisbane, the Men in Blue made one change, resting Tilak Varma and bringing Rinku Singh into the playing XI.

IND vs AUS Live Score: Why is only the square covered at Gabba Stadium?

Why is only the square covered at Gabba Stadium?

The Gabba Stadium in Brisbane is renowned for its world-class drainage system, which allows play to resume quickly even after heavy rain. The outfield is built on a sand-based surface that enables water to drain rapidly through the turf instead of pooling on top. Beneath this lies a network of perforated pipes that collect and channel excess water away from the playing area. The ground also has a gentle slope from the centre to the boundary, helping water naturally flow toward the edges where it’s efficiently drained. This advanced setup, combined with a specially engineered sand and gravel base, ensures that the field remains firm and dry within minutes after rain stops, making the Gabba one of the best-drained cricket stadiums in the world. So there are chances if the rain has been stopped then the clash will take place on time.

IND vs AUS 5th T20I live score: Rinku Singh joins playing XI

The Men in Blue featured with one change as destructive batter Rinku Singh came in the playing XI in place of Tilak Varma.

Suryakumar Yadav at toss: Until you're winning the game and losing the toss, it's fine. Want to go out and express ourselves. Always good to understand what the team's goal is. All batters realised it wasn't a 200 wicket. All boxes ticked in the last game, just want to continue the same. Always good to win bilaterals. At the same time, what combination you want is more important. Other than openers, this is one format where everyone has to be flexible with batting positions. One change - Tilak is resting, Rinku comes in.
