Rohit Sharma ran riot with the bat in the third ODI against Australia and tonked his first international hundred in eight months against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. With this Rohit also clocked his 50th international cricket.

Rohit Sharma tonks 50th international century

The veteran batter reached his 33rd ODI century off just 105 deliveries. This remarkable feat also saw him join an elite club, becoming only the 10th player in history to secure 50 international centuries across all formats. His total tally includes 12 tons in Test cricket. Furthermore, Rohit still holds the record as the joint-highest century-maker in the T20I format, a format he retired from following India's successful World Cup campaign in the Caribbean in July 2024.

He has clobbered 33 tons in ODIs, 12 in Tests and five in T20Is and thus became just the third Indian to smash 50 international centuries.

Rohit brought up his century on the 105th ball of his masterful innings, reaching the landmark with a quick single to long off against the bowling of Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa. Rohit's knock got off to a quick start while chasing a 237-run target, beginning the Indian chase with a boundary off the very first over bowled by left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc. He maintained relentless pressure on the Australian bowlers throughout, consistently finding the ropes and ensuring India remained in control of the game. The 38-year-old hit his first six with an elegant inside-out shot, also off Zampa. He reached his fifty off his 63rd ball and continued to push the scoring rate alongside his batting partner, Virat Kohli, eventually celebrating his hundred in the 33rd over of the innings. This achievement places Rohit in elite company; only Sachin Tendulkar (49) and Virat Kohli (51) have scored more ODI hundreds than him.
