India's fast-bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has missed the third ODI against Australia due to sustaining an injury in the second ODI at Adelaide Oval. Nitish, who made his ODI debut in the first ODI of the same series, sustained a left quadriceps injury before the third ODI. Soon after his injury, there were speculations about his participation in the five-match ODI series against Australia.

Cricbuzz reported that the star all-rounder is expected to be fit for the T20I series, which is scheduled to start from October 29, 2025.
BCCI on Nitish's injury
Earlier, after the toss of the third ODI against Australia in the first ODI, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed his injury.
"Nitish Kumar Reddy sustained a left quadriceps injury during the second ODI in Adelaide and was subsequently unavailable for selection for the third ODI. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring him on a daily basis" wrote BCCI.
Nitish Kumar Reddy's T20I and ODI career
Notably, Nitish Kumar Reddy scored 27 runs in his two ODIs with a highest score of 19 unbeaten. The 22-year-old has played four T20Is since making his debut against Bangladesh in 2024, where he scored 90 runs and picked up three wickets. Reddy's last outing came in the second ODI, where he was wicketless and scored eight runs.
