India’s destructive batter Rinku Singh has yet to feature for the Suryakumar Yadav-led side in the ongoing five-match T20I series against Australia. The Men in Blue are currently leading 2-1 after winning the fourth game, and the visitors are now just one win away from taking the series.
Suresh Raina on Rinku Singh
Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina feels it’s unlikely that Rinku Singh will get a chance to play in the final match. Known as Team India’s finisher in T20 cricket, Rinku had a similar situation during the Asia Cup 2025, where he played only in the final after missing the rest of the tournament. Since then, he hasn’t had an opportunity to feature in Australia. Commenting ahead of the fifth T20, Suresh Raina said that “I think Team India wants to win the next match as well.”
"After this win, I think they will go for a win in the next game. I don't know where Rinku Singh can get a place. We haven't lost a series Down Under after 2008. I feel the confidence you will carry forward into the upcoming matches after winning the series will be extremely important," said Suresh Raina on Star Sports.
Will India feature with a changed XI? Raina explains
Suresh Raina further stated that Rinku is surely in the scheme of things for Team India, but the Men in Blue will feature with the same playing XI unless someone is forced to miss the clash due to injury.
"Rinku is definitely in the Indian selectors and coaches' scheme of things, but Jitesh Sharma played well in the last match. Washington Sundar played well again today (Thursday). I feel they can play this match with the same team, unless someone has an injury. Then you can give Rinku a chance. However, I feel it will be the same playing XI," Raina observed.
Rinku Singh and Nitish Kumar Reddy are the only two stars who have yet to feature in the ongoing T20I series. Nitish was ruled out of the first three games of the series after getting an injury. The fifth T20I between India and Australia will take place on November 8 at the iconic Gabba Stadium in Brisbane.
