Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be eager to return to field soon.

Regarding the future of senior batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in Test cricket, India's head coach Gautam Gambhir remained reticent, saying that it is up to the players to make their own decisions. In an interview with the media following India's six-wicket defeat in the Sydney Test, which resulted in the loss of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Gambhir expressed his confidence that the two senior players would make choices that would benefit the Indian side.

Rohit, Kohli's next assignment

However, as for their near future, both stars are expected to return to action with the upcoming ODI series against England which will start on February 6 in Nagpur. India is all set to host the English side for five T20Is and three ODIs. The T20I leg of the series will start later this month, on January 22 with Suryakumar Yadav-led taking on the Three Lions in Chennai for the opening clash.

Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have retired from the T20I format, they will only be taking part in the ODI leg. As this is the final 50-over assignment before the much-awaited Champions Trophy, both superstar players will be looking forward to getting a good run with the bat and entering the marquee event as one of the top contenders.
