Indian batter KL Rahul who is Rohit Sharma's potential opening replacement for the Australia series has suffered an injury scare during a match simulation session at the WACA in Perth. Team India are currently in Australia practising for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 which is scheduled to start from November 22.
According to reporters at the venue, Rahul was hit on his right forearm/elbow off a bumpy short delivery. Though he tried to resume his batting after some help from the physio, Rahul decided to walk off the field.
However, As per Sports Tak, KL Rahul was hit by a ball in the morning but he is doing fine now.
The Karnataka batter has been going through a challenging phase after initially being set for a middle-order role in India’s home Test series against New Zealand, with support from captain Rohit and head coach Gautam Gambhir.
However, after the first Test in Bengaluru, Rahul was left out, and India went on to face a disappointing 3-0 series loss. Recently, he was included in the India A team for the second unofficial Test against Australia A in Melbourne.
Rahul struggled after being moved back to the top order, opening alongside Abhimanyu Easwaran, who was named as Rohit's backup for India’s Test squad. Rahul posted scores of 4 and 10 and faced criticism for an unusual dismissal against spinner Corey Rocchiccioli, leaving a full delivery that went on to bowl him around his legs.
