Kapil Dev's big remark on Jasprit Bumrah.

Star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been performing exceptionally well with the ball. His bowling in recent times has just been phenomenal, he is also India's key player in the ongoing five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. With 12 wickets to his name, the Indian bowler is currently the leading wicket-taker in the series and has an exceptional bowling average of just 11.25. He also transited into a new role of captaincy, as he led the team in Rohit Sharma's absence. However, he had led the team before on a couple of occasions, it was a big talking topic this time around considering what was at stake.

Jasprit Bumrah led the Indian team to a massive 295-run in the Perth Test against Australia after which the buzz around his captaincy grew larger. Although he is still Rohit's deputy, Bumrah returned to just a player-only role in the Adelaide Test after Rohit Sharma returned to the side after missing out the first game.

Kapil Dev on Jasprit Bumrah

Legendary cricketer Kapil Dev was asked about Bumrah's future as an Indian Test captain. However, the former all-rounder said Bumrah is one of the best when it comes to captaincy or if he doesn't deserve that role. He said the pacer should play a few more games as a captain before people judge him.

"I think it's too early to say that with one good performance, you can't say he (Jasprit Bumrah) is the best and with one bad performance you can't say he does not deserve to be there. Let the player play more matches with a lot of captaincy as ups and downs will come then you judge that person and how he will react when the difficult time comes, not just at good times, we don't judge but only talk about the good time, when he is down and out like Virat Kohli was, one of the best cricketers we have seen in our country, he is among the top four batters in the country so if he (Rohit Sharma) is going through a rough time, it is only up to him how fast he can bounce back and come back," said Kapil Dev in a media interaction.

Jasprit Bumrah's performance with the ball has been the key factor for India's bright show in the series so far. The batting has failed to do much except for the second innings in the Perth Test. Even legendary Sunil Gavaskar has said that Bumrah should play all five match of this series if India wants to edge out the Aussies.
