India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin displayed immaculate composure under tremendous pressure on Day 4 of the second Test against Bangladesh on December 25 (Sunday). The right-handed batter oozed confidence at the crease against a bowling attack that had its tails up by dismissing seven Indian batters. With wickets deteriorating and spinners enjoying assistance from the pitch, Ashwin combined with Shreyas Iyer and rolled out India's path to a hard-fought three-wicket win.

After losing three wickets for 29 runs in the first session, India needed a partnership to settle the nerves. Shreyas hit a few boundaries to put pressure on spinners. Later on, Ashwin started to take chances with aerial shots and cleared the fence once as well.  Bangladesh bowlers could not get the breakthrough as the unbeaten 71-run eighth-wicket partnership between Iyer and Ashwin saw India home. Ashwin remained not out for 42 off 62 deliveries including for fours and one six. On the other end, Iyer scored 29 runs from 46 deliveries including four fours.

Bangladesh had a chance to put India under more pressure when Ashwin was batting at just one run. The right-handed batter got an early reprieve as he got dropped by Mominul Haque at short leg.

One of the netizens tried to take the credit away from Ashwin's commendable batsmanship and replied to the Indian cricketer's tweet saying, "You should have handed this (trophy) to Mominul Haque, Who dropped that dolly.. had he bagged it, India all out for 89 for sure.."

Ashwin came up with a befitting reply and said, "Oh no ! I thought I blocked you, oh sorry that’s the other guy. what’s his name?? Yes Daniel Alexander that’s the name !! Imagine what you both would do if India dint play cricket."

Team India will now cross swords against Sri Lanka in a white-ball series at home, starting January 03, 2023.
