A new era for the Indian team will begin in Test cricket as their five-match series against England commences from June 20. The Test retirements of greats like Ravichandran Ashwin, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli opened the doors for several youngsters to make it to India's squad. It will be interesting to see how they perform in the gruelling overseas tour under newly-appointed captain Shubman Gill.
The first Test of the series will be played at Headingley in Leeds and will also mark the beginning of the new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. On one hand, Gill & Co. will be looking to make a strong start to the tour while on the other hand, England will be looking to dominate the visitors on a pitch that is known to favour the seamers.

Head-to-head record between England and India in Tests
The two sides have so far faced each other in red-ball cricket a total of 136 times. The Three Lions have turned out to be the more dominant side out of the two, emerging victorious on 51 occasions. India on the other hand, have won on 35 occasions and both teams have played out a draw 50 times.
The last time that India toured England for a Test assignment was back in 2021/22. The result of the series turned out to be 2-2 with the Men in Blue recording a famous 151-run victory at Lord's and also ending up on the winning side at the Oval.
If the side lead by Gill manages to emerge victorious in the assignment against England then it will be nothing short of a huge feat as the Men in Blue haven't recorded a Test series triumph over the Three Lions on English soil since 2007.
