Team India are scheduled to play a five-Test match series against England which is scheduled to start from June 20.

Kaif, who played a crucial role in India's one of the most glorious chapters of their cricketing history by beating England in a thrilling final at the historic Lord’s Stadium by two wickets, questioned BCCI about Iyer's exclusion from the squad despite a brilliant performance in IPL 2025.

"This IPL Shreyas Iyer has made his bat do all the talking. He's also been an exceptional captain. While he hasn't said much, the cricket world is asking: Why isn't Shreyas in the Test team?" the post reads.

Shreyas Iyer is currently in the form of his life, the middle-order batter is leading Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The team has reached the playoffs of the mega event after a long wait of 11 years. Iyer scored 514 runs in 14 outings of the tournament. PBKS will now face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for the qualifier 1 of the cash-rich league.

BCCI have announced India's squad for the five-Test match series against England, where Shubman Gill will lead the side and Rishabh Pant will be his deputy. While announcing India's squad, chief selector Ajit Agarkar also addressed why the management didn't pick Iyer in the Indian squad for the five-Test match series against England.

"Yeah, Shreyas Iyer has played well in domestic cricket, but at the moment, there is no room for him in the Test Team,” Ajit Agarkar stated.
