Ireland captain Paul Stirling won the all-important toss in the second T20I and elected to bowl at The Village in Dublin on August 20 (Sunday). Both teams fielded the same playing XI that featured in the first game of the series. India currently leads the three-match series 1-0 after winning the opening match.

India defeated Ireland in the first T20I by two runs by the D/L method. Bumrah marked his return to international cricket after 327 days in the previous match and instantly made a glaring impact. The stand-in India captain bagged two wickets in the first over of the match and announced his return in grand style. India restricted Ireland to 139/7 before scoring 47/2 in 6.5 overs when rain intervened and the match was called off. 

Prasidh Krishna and Rinku Singh made their T20I debuts for India in the previous game. The right-arm pacer Krishna bagged two wickets while left-handed batter Rinku didn't get a chance to display his stroke-making skills.
