India thrashed Proteas in the third ODI by 78 runs on December 21.

Arshdeep Singh emphasised the importance of frequent appeals for bowlers, particularly on a pitch favouring batters. The left-arm pacer delivered an exceptional performance following India's 78-run victory in the third and final ODI against South Africa on December 21 at Boland Park in Paarl.

Arshdeep stood out as the key bowler, securing wickets including those of Reeza Hendricks, Tony de Zorzi, Keshav Maharaj, and Lizaad Williams, concluding with impressive figures of 9-1-30-4. On the back of his spell, India managed to bowl South Africa out for 218 in 45.5 overs and reached a total of 296/8.

The left-arm bowler clarified that his approach was to simplify things by prompting the batters to actively engage and play.

The 24-year-old said he kept things simple by encouraging the batters to play actively.

"The plan was simple, it was to bowl wicket-to-wicket and get lbws and bowled.”

"Sometimes when there isn't anything happening on the wicket, you need some support from the umpires, that's why I had to appeal a lot," Arshdeep said in the post-match presentation ceremony”, said Arshdeep.

Arshdeep earned the ‘Player of the Series’ award, securing 10 wickets in three games with an economy rate of 3.51, including a five-wicket haul at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

The 24-year-old also acknowledged the Indian Premier League (IPL) for providing young talents with significant platforms in their careers. He said that the T20I league has played a crucial role in helping cricketers understand each other's mindset at the highest level.

"The IPL has been a very good platform for us youngsters, there isn't a big gap between IPL and international cricket. You understand the mindset of international cricketers and it helps. We are all loving the chances we've got. We'd love to give our all in the future as well and do well," he added.

The teams are set to play in the Boxing Day Test on December 26 as part of the two-match Test series, and several senior Indian cricketers are poised to make their return. Among them, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be back in action.
