Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Deepak Chahar’s sister Malti Chahar slammed critics after her brother limped off the field with an injury during the clash against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 1. He opened the bowling for the defending champions and bowled the first two deliveries during PBKS’ run chase. While delivering the third ball, Chahar halted abruptly in his run-up and after a chat with skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, he walked off the pitch. Shardul Thakur completed his remaining over.
Malti Chahar reacts to criticism
His sister Malti took to ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) and came out of his defence by saying that he will come back stronger.
“Stop being so insensitive guys! Nobody is enjoying these injuries! He is trying his best and he will comeback stronger!”, Malti wrote.
Chahar missed a couple of games due to a niggle earlier this season too. Now, he is facing yet another setback. Meanwhile, he faced criticism and trolling on social media spaces. Several fans also urged CSK to release the injury-prone pacer.
Chahar’s IPL 2024 Performance so far
In the ongoing IPL season, he has claimed only five wickets in eight matches at an average of 40.40 and an economy rate of 8.60 so far.
PBKS win against CSK
Gaikwad lost the toss to stand-in captain Sam Curran and was put to bat first. CSK scored 162 for the loss of seven wickets. In reply, PBKS easily chased down the target and raced to victory in 17.5 overs. PBKS registered their fifth consecutive over CSK. With this win, PBKS climbed to the seventh position in the points table. Conversely, CSK's position remained unchanged with 10 points in the standings.
