Glenn Maxwell has scored just 31 runs in four innings in IPL 2024.

Maxwell has been dismissed for a duck twice in IPL 2024.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) superstar batter Glenn Maxwell was brutally slammed by ex-India cricketer Manoj Tiwary after the Australian batter once again miserably failed to stand for his team when needed. Maxwell registered his second duck of the season having played just four matches in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) thus far. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fast bowler Mayank Yadav hurried Maxwell into playing a pull shot which was woefully executed.

Tiwary launched a blistering attack on Maxwell and said that the Aussie star has become a case of 'Aaya Ram, Gaya Ram' in the cash-rich tournament. Tiwary also criticised Maxwell for not doing justice to his huge price tag.

"RCB retained Glenn Maxwell. He is receiving his salary from time to time, but the performances aren't coming at that speed," Tiwary told Cricbuzz.

"Glenn Maxwell has become Aaya Ram, Gaya Ram in the IPL. He has all the abilities, but where are the performances? If you look at his track record, even when he was with Punjab, everyone expected him to deliver match-winning performances, which didn't happen. There needs to be consistency." he added.

Maxwell's forgettable campaign so far

In four matches played in the 2024 IPL so far, the explosive right-handed batter has scored just 31 runs. Out of the four times Maxwell has batted thus far, he failed to open his account on two occasions while once he was dismissed for three runs. His best knock of the season was against the Kolkata Knight Riders when he scored 28 runs off 19 balls.

Maxwell's woeful returns with the bat have directly impacted the RCB's performance in the season so far. Faf du Plessis' men are currently languishing in ninth place in the points table with just one win in four matches played.

Moving forward, the RCB would hope that Maxwell shrugs off his poor form and returns to being the beast that the best of bowlers around the world fear.
