Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ambati Rayudu had a cheeky answer to a reporter’s question ahead of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 11. Since Hardik Pandya transferred from Gujarat Titans (GT) to MI and took over captaincy, there have been talks about Rohit Sharma moving to another franchise. As the Indian captain continues to play as a pure batter for MI, a reporter asked whether Rohit will be open to the idea of moving to RCB.
"I don't know whether RCB need Rohit, but it seems you need a headline (laughs)," the 38-year-old who has been commentating for Star Sports responded.
Since taking over the reins, Pandya has been booed by fans barring the match against Delhi Capitals (DC) at Wankhede Stadium. Rayudu feels that the decision rests with Rohit at the end of the day as he hasn't been treated properly despite leading MI to five title wins.
"It's Rohit's call at the end of the day. He can go wherever he wants to go. All the teams would love to have him as a captain for sure. I am sure he will go to a franchise that maybe treats him better than what has happened here," Rayudu said.
Rayudu lashes out at RCB’s think tank
Earlier in the month, Rayudu was critical of RCB’s approach over the years. He explained why RCB have not been able to win an Indian Premier League (IPL) title despite having big players in their ranks.
"I feel their bowling always gives over-par runs and batting performs under par. No big-name batter is seen playing for RCB when they are under pressure. Such teams never win. This is why they have not won the IPL for so many years," Rayudu said on Star Sports.

"Your big-name international players, who need to take the pressure, where were they? All of them were in the dressing room. This is not happening today. This has been this team's story for the last 16 years," he added.
RCB are currently placed ninth on the points table with just one win from five games. On the other hand, Virat Kohli has the orange cap with 316 runs from five innings.
