Former Pakistani cricket star Wasim Akram spoke about MS Dhoni's influence on Indian cricket. Akram acknowledged the famous 110-metre six Dhoni hit against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2024 IPL, but stressed that this was just a single moment in Dhoni's long and illustrious career.

Akram believes Dhoni's true legacy lies in the winning mentality he instilled in the Indian team during his captaincy. He praised Dhoni's calmness under pressure, his ability to finish matches in tense situations, and his role in grooming young talent. Akram also highlighted Dhoni's remarkable consistency throughout his career, even at the age of 42.

“I have a gut feeling, he’ll be done after this. Players like him come in a lifetime, it all depends on him. His legacy is not just that [110m] six, it’s something else. He’s done a lot for Indian cricket. He brought the mindset," Wasim Akram told Sportskeeda.

“As a captain, he brought calmness, played captaincy knocks, the way he became a finisher, the way he has groomed players, and showed consistency, so this will be his legacy. But, yes, for fans the last image will be that 110-metre six at his age, it’s incredible fitness. It will only be a glimpse of his legacy,” he added.

Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, on the very next delivery, Dayal took Dhoni's wicket and thus CSK fell short of the target and suffered 27-run defeat. Dhoni had been in exceptional form this season despite his muscle tear, amassing 161 runs in 14 innings.
