Hardik Pandya will be leading the MI fold in the IPL 2024.

The five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Mumbai Indians (MI) are gearing up for IPL 2024 with an eye on adding another title under new captain Hardik Pandya. In a significant change, Rohit Sharma, who led the team to five IPL victories over a ten-year period, is no longer at the helm. This change comes as Chennai Super Kings (CSK), under MS Dhoni's leadership, matched MI's record of five titles by clinching the 2023 season.

The spotlight in IPL 2024 will be on Hardik as the team's new leader. The decision to replace Rohit has been met with mixed reactions from fans; some feel it's unfair to Sharma after a decade of leadership, while others see it as a necessary shift following mediocre performances in recent seasons. Mumbai Indians had a rocky start in IPL 2023 but managed a remarkable turnaround towards the end.

Meanwhile, the joint-most successful franchise forked out a sum of Rs 5 crore for South African pacer Gerald Coetzee. MI then went on to splurge Rs 4.60 crore on Sri Lanka's star pacer Dilshan Madushanka.
