RCB captain Faf du Plessis, in the midst of a solid knock, was adjudged run-out in the 13th over, leaving him staring in disbelief at the giant screen. This dramatic dismissal echoed the stunned reactions of millions of fans and cricket pundits alike. The incident unfolded when Rajat Patidar, on strike, drove a full toss from Mitchell Santner straight back towards the bowler. Reacting quickly, Santner dived low and got a slight fingertip deflection, sending the ball careening towards the stumps at the non-striker's end. To the naked eye, it appeared Du Plessis had made his ground comfortably. However, the on-field umpire, unsure of the sequence of events, referred the decision upstairs.

Adding to the suspense, third umpire Michael Gough meticulously reviewed replays, utilizing technology to determine the crucial details. After a tense wait, Gough's verdict came in and the giant screen showed a big ‘Out’ written on it. Du Plessis's bat was indeed in the air, resulting in a bizarre and controversial dismissal. The decision left everyone speechless, including Virat Kohli watching from the dugout after his own impressive 47-run knock. Faf Du Plessis led from the front to power RCB to a strong total. Just hitting his stride, he had reached his fifty in a mere 35 balls and looked poised to inflict serious damage on his former team, CSK. However, Mitchell Santner's exceptional fielding display cut short his innings. Du Plessis departed for 54 runs off 39 balls, leaving a significant hole in RCB's batting order. However, Rajat Patidar (41 off 23( and Cameron Green (38 off 17) played fiery cameos to help RCB post a colossal total of 218/5. Later, CSK failed to chase down the big total and lost the match by 27 runs.
