Chennai Super Kings (CSK) overseas pacer Mustafizur Rahman retained his second position in the Purple Cap race despite missing the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Mustafizur returned to Bangladesh to complete his visa formalities for the T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies. Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans' (GT) pacer Mohit Sharma leads the race with his exceptional bowling. Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) young pacer Mayank Yadav holds the third position with an outstanding economy of 5.12. Following him is Rajasthan Royals' (RR) leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal with six wickets, and Delhi Capitals' (DC) left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed stands at the fifth spot.

Mohit Sharma (GT)

GT's experienced pacer Mohit Sharma currently leads with the Purple Cap race, having taken seven wickets from four matches at an economy of 8.18. His best figures of 3/25 came against SRH, contributing to GT's seven-wicket victory. Last season, he was the second-highest wicket-taker with 27 wickets from 14 matches.

Mustafizur Rahman (CSK)

The pacer from Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman has claimed seven wickets from three matches, with an economy of 8.83. CSK signed Mustafizur in last year's auction. His best bowling figures are 4/29.

Mayank Yadav (LSG)

This 21-year-old Delhi pacer has taken the IPL by storm with his speed, delivering the season's fastest ball at 156.7 kph. He has six wickets from two matches and boasts an economy of 5.12. His best bowling figures are 3/14, earning him the Player of the Match award.

Yuzvendra Chahal (RR)

Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal entered the Purple Cap race after taking three wickets against Mumbai Indians (MI) and conceding only eleven runs. In three matches, he has taken six wickets with an economy of 5.50. Last season, he took 21 wickets from 14 matches and is the leading wicket-taker in IPL history.

Khaleel Ahmed (DC)
