The race for the IPL 2024 Orange Cap, awarded to the tournament's leading run-scorer, has intensified after the exciting match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). Meanwhile, KKR's star all-rounder Sunil Narine has rocketed into contention for the IPL's Orange Cap with a blistering 109 runs off 56 balls against the Rajasthan Royals. Narine's incredible knock propelled him to the coveted third position in the race, making him the only overseas batter currently in the top five. Meanwhile, there's been a shake-up in the standings. Sanju Samson of the Royals has slipped from third to fourth, while Mumbai Indians opener Rohit Sharma, who smashed a century against the Chennai Super Kings, remains in the hunt. However, Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill has dropped out of the top five. Hot on Virat Kohli's heels is the young Riyan Parag of the Rajasthan Royals. Kohli, the Royal Challengers Bangalore star, continues to hold the Orange Cap, maintaining his lead at the top of the leaderboard.

1. Virat Kohli (RCB): The ever-reliable Virat Kohli continues to reign supreme at the top. He has amassed an impressive 361 runs in just seven matches, boasting a blistering strike rate of 147.34. With two fifties and a century under his belt, Kohli remains in red-hot form.

2. Riyan Parag (RR): This young talent has emerged as a breakout star this season. Parag's explosive batting has yielded 318 runs in seven matches, including three well-constructed fifties. His strike rate of 161.42 is a testament to his aggressive style of play. Notably, he played a crucial role against KKR with a quickfire 34 off just 14 deliveries.

3. Sunil Narine (KKR): The KKR all-rounder has taken everyone by surprise with his powerful batting display at the top of the order. Narine's recent century against RR propelled him into the Orange Cap race. Currently sitting at number three with 276 runs from six matches, his phenomenal strike rate of 187.75 is a major threat to the other contenders.

4. Sanju Samson (RR): The Rajasthan Royals skipper, Sanju Samson, has maintained consistent run-scoring this season. He shares the third spot with Narine at 276 runs, but with a slightly slower strike rate of 155.05. Samson has contributed three crucial fifties in his seven matches so far.

5. Rohit Sharma (MI): The Indian captain and former Mumbai Indians skipper, Rohit Sharma, continues to hold onto his position in the top five. Though he hasn't converted fifties yet, his valuable century and consistent run-scoring have brought him 261 runs in six matches. With a strike rate of 167.30, Rohit remains a force to be reckoned with.

Close on his heels was Royal Challengers Bangalore's Faf du Plessis, who showcased his prowess with 730 runs, claiming the second spot in the Orange Cap competition. Devon Conway of Chennai Super Kings also had a noteworthy season, accumulating 672 runs to secure third place. Royal Challengers Bangalore's Virat Kohli continued to prove his mettle as a formidable batsman by finishing in fourth place with 639 runs. Completing the top five was the emerging talent Yashasvi Jaiswal, who made a significant impact by gathering 625 runs and establishing himself as a noteworthy player in the IPL.
