IPL 2024 Points Table sees major shift, DC move three places up while GT slips to seventh; take a look at updated standings

Delhi Capitals have taken a big leap in IPL 2024's points table after emphatic win over GT.

Delhi Capitals thrashed Gujarat Titans by six wickets.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024's points table saw a big shakeup on Wednesday, April 17 after Gujarat Titans (GT) versus Delhi Capitals (DC) clash. Rishabh Pant-led DC secured a dominant win against the Shubman Gill's Gujarat Titans, propelling them to sixth place in the IPL 2024's points table.  Unfortunately for Gujarat, this loss dropped them down to seventh, with their net run rate taking a significant hit after being bowled out for a measly 89 runs. Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals continued their impressive run by completing the joint-highest successful run chase in IPL history against the Kolkata Knight Riders.  This victory cemented their position at the top of the standings with 12 points from seven matches.  Kolkata holds onto second place with 8 points, followed by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) who are tied for third with the same number of points.

Lucknow Super Giants currently sit in fifth place, with the resurgent Delhi Capitals just behind them.  Gujarat Titans have slipped to seventh, while Punjab Kings remain in eighth.  Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore find themselves struggling at the bottom of the table, currently holding ninth and tenth place respectively.

The race for the IPL 2024 playoffs is on. Currently, four teams are in contention for the coveted spots: Rajasthan Royals (RR), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

The Top Four: Only the top four teams in the final league standings will advance to the playoffs.
Qualifier 1: The teams ranked first and second will face off in Qualifier 1. The winner of this match automatically qualifies for the final.
Eliminator: The teams ranked third and fourth will battle it out in the Eliminator. The winner gets a second chance to reach the final.
Qualifier 2: The loser of Qualifier 1 and the winner of the Eliminator will play Qualifier 2. The victor of this match secures a spot in the final.
The Grand Finale: Scheduled for May 26, the final will determine the champion of IPL 2024.
