Ravi Bishnoi will be representing Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2024.

Ravi Bishnoi is gearing up for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 where he will be bolstering Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) spin attack. Notably, the 23-year-old is currently at no.6 in the ICC T20I rankings. Bishnoi has appeared in 24 T20Is for Team India and secured 36 wickets with a promising economy of 7.51. After sitting nearly a year on the sidelines of cricket, he not only secured his return to the Indian national team, but also achieved a remarkable feat. During the India versus Afghanistan series, Bishnoi's impressive performance even saw him surpass the Rashid Khan to claim the top spot in the ICC's T20I bowling rankings.

With everything seemingly going his way, the star leg-spinner is now focused on putting in a strong performance in the upcoming IPL season. His ultimate goal in order to secure a coveted spot in India's T20 World Cup squad.

However, the period between September 2022 and August 2023 was a frustrating one for Bishnoi. He found himself out of the Indian T20I squad and left wondering why the selectors weren't picking him.

Ravi Bishnoi has no idea why he was dropped from India's squad

The tough phase left Bishnoi wondering as to why he was dropped from India's squad.

"I did not know what the reasoning was behind leaving me out. My two coaches, Pradyot Singh Rathore and Shahrukh Kh ensured that I stayed in the right frame mind and kept giving my best whenever I had an opportunity, be it in the IPL or in the domestic games. Thankfully I never felt insecure and changed the way I bowled. I just kept bowling more and worked on my batting. I follow a simple theory that the more you bowl the more you grow," Bishnoi said, as quoted by TOI.

Bishnoi is drawing inspiration from his former Under-19 India teammates. He's impressed by the hard work and dedication of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, and Tilak Varma, who have all put in the effort to reach their current positions in the cricketing world. Their success seems to be motivating Bishnoi as he strives for his own goals.

"They had fought hard in life, and it feels good that the boys I played with during Under-19 days have made it to the senior team as well. must admit that Yashasvi has now motivated me to play Test cricket," Bishnoi added.

Bishnoi has his eyes set on T20 World Cup squad

While a spot on the T20 World Cup team this June is certainly a possibility for Bishnoi, with the selectors keeping a close eye on him, he's staying focused on the present and avoiding getting ahead of himself.

"Who would not like to be a part of the World Cup squad? That's my dream and a good show in the IPL can help," he concluded.

For the time being Bishnoi has his focus set on IPL 2024, which is the key to his selection in T20 World Cup sqauad. Notably, Bishnoi started his IPL career with Punjab Kings in 2020. In 2022, when LSG was introduced as the new team they roped him in the team along with KL Rahul. Last year, in 2023 he took 16 wickets with an economy of 7.44. LSG will start its campaign against Rajasthan Royals on March 24.
