Pietersen advocated for Kohli's inclusion in India's T20 World Cup team, irrespective of his recent performance in the game's shortest format.

"You want someone like Virat Kohli to grow the game in America and globally," Pietersen had said earlier.

After scoring a match-winning half-century, Kohli reacted to Pietersen saying that the former deserves a place in India's T20 World Cup squad even though his form and performances might not do justice.

"I know my name is quite attached to just promoting the game in many parts of the world when it comes to T20 cricket, but I have still got it I guess," Kohli told the broadcaster.

How did Pietersen react to Kohli's remark?

The next morning of the match between RCB and PBKS, Pietersen took to X and lauded left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar's performance. In the same tweet, Pietersen also reacted to Kohli's knock against the Punjab Kings.

"Goodness me, doesn’t the IPL just serve up so much sporting joy? How good was Harpreet Brah last night? Indian selectors MUST keep a close eye on him for the WC! And, my boy VK, you buddy, are more than joy," Pietersen said in a tweet.
