KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pace sensation Mayank Yadav is likely to return for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 clash against Ruturaj Gaikwad-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 19 at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. He missed the LSG’s two matches against Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) due to niggle and the team went on to lose both matches.
The 21-year-old Mayank bowled just one over during the clash against Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 7 before leaving the field due to discomfort in his lower abdomen.
The Lucknow-based franchise took to its official social media handles to share a video of Mayank’s bowling in the nets, which hinted that he could return to action during the match against CSK.
LSG captioned the post, “Phir se udd chala”.

Notably, he hit the headlines by consistently clocking above 150Kmph in his first two outings for LSG. He snared three wickets each against PBKS and RCB respectively. Mayank’s back-to-back three-wicket hauls in his debut matches earned him ‘Player of the Match’ awards on both occasions.
LSG don’t want to rush him: KL Rahul
On April 12, KL Rahul gave an update on Yadav after losing against KKR, he said, "Mayank is not too bad; he looks good, feeling good but we also want to make sure we don't rush him back in too early.”
“He's young, we need to protect his body. He's itching to go, we just have to pull him back a little, maybe a couple of more games, before he comes back," Rahul added.
Earlier, LSG head coach Justin Langer had also shared details about Mayank’s injury.
“But we had an MRI scan, and there is a very, very small swelling in there. So, we are very hopeful he'll start building himself up and be back bowling again soon,” Justin Langer said.
