RCB's horrific start to IPL 2024

RCB entered the 2024 edition of the cash-rich tournament with immense positivity, especially because of the women's team's triumph in the Women's Premier League (WPL). Just when it seemed like the RCB men's team would play with renewed energy to begin the season, the franchise once again failed to deceive.

After beginning their campaign with a loss against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), RCB came back to win their second match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS). In their third match, Faf du Plessis' brigade was comprehensively beaten by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) while the LSH poured salt on RCB's wounds in the franchise's fourth match of the season.

As a result, the RCB are currently languishing in ninth place in the points table with just one win in four matches played.

Virat Kohli - the lone shining light

While RCB's top-order has struggled to find any sort of rhythm with the bat in the tournament so far, the franchise's poster boy Virat Kohli is once again shouldering the heavy load. After four matches, Kohli has 203 runs at a strike rate of 140.97. The stylish right-handed batter has registered two half-centuries and is currently the holder of the Orange Cap.

RCB would need significant contributions from the likes of Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell to shrug off the early hiccups. Else, this season too can slip out of their sight in no time.
