Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz was thankful to former India and current Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni for a special signed jersey that he received from the legend.

Gurbaz took to social media to show how grateful he was for the gesture and shared a special caption as well to show how much the jersey meant to the young batter. "Thanks @msdhoni sir for sending the gift all the way from India,' read the caption of the photo which was shared on Twitter and Intstagram.

Gurbaz was one of the main batters for KKR during their stop-start season. He was a part of the Gujarat Titans in their successful Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season but did not make a single appearance. He was then traded to KKR and played 11 matches (10 as an opener and one at No. 4), scoring 227 runs at an average of 20.64 and a strike rate of 133.53. He was good behind the wickets as well, and his diving catch against Punjab Kings (PBKS) was one of the highlights of the season.

Dhoni sending personalised jerseys to young players is not unknown if requested personally. Even Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf received a jersey from the talismanic wicketkeeper-batter in 2022.

Ahead of IPL 2023, Gurbaz revealed that one of his biggest desires is to play against Dhoni as well as former RCB and South Africa legend AB de Villiers. While playing against de Villiers is a tough task given he has retired from cricket, he did fulfil his desire to face Dhoni in the IPL this season.

“I had two players in my life I want to play with but unfortunately, I did not play with them," he told Hindustan Times. "One was AB de Villiers. I was really inspired by him. He was my idol. I followed him a lot from my childhood.

"He is retired now but one thing that I hope is possible this year is to play with MS Dhoni, against him and with him but in one game. I hope this dream comes true.”
