The Virat Kohli vs Gautam Gambhir controversy does not seem to be dying down. While former cricketers have asked for a suspension on two icon players who have a huge fan following in the country, fans of both have been arguing on social media trying to prove who was in the wrong. On May 3, fans at Ekana Stadium tried to get under Gambhir’s skin and managed to do so briefly when they chanted ‘Kohli-Kohli’ while LSG mentor was walking back to the dressing room after rain interrupted play. Gambhir stop for an instant and stared back at the chanting fans before going inside. The video has been making rounds on social media.

After the unfortunate verbal spat between the two, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) slapped both of them with a fine for 100 per cent match fee for committing Level 2 offence under Article 2.21 of Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct.

Playing for the first time after controversy, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) clash could not produce a result as rain played spoilsport in the last over of first innings. In an injured KL Rahul’s absence, Krunal Pandya led LSG against MS Dhoni’s brigade.

In Rahul's absence, Manan Vohra opened for LSG but failed to make a mark. Deepak Hooda's replacement Karan Sharma could not make an impact either. As a result, LSG lost half of their side for 44 in the 10th over. It was Ayush Badoni's 33-ball 59 that helped LSG make a comeback and post 125/7 in 19.2 overs before rain played spoilsport.

As both sides shared points, LSG climbed to the second post. With five wins and one point from no result encounter, LSG have 11 points from 10 games. They are followed by CSK on the points table who have the same number of points from 10 games.

LSG will take on defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in their next clash at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmebadad. It is yet to be seen whether their skipper Rahul will be able to regain fitness till then or not.
