Delhi Capitals' (DC) injured captain Rishabh Pant was at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi during his team's six-wicket loss to the Gujarat Titans (GT) on Tuesday, April 4.  He was sitting in the stands with the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) honourary secretary Jay Shah, and Parth Jindal, the owner of the Capitals.

After the match, the wicketkeeper-batter also took the time out to visit their rival team's dressing room, with his India teammate Shubman Gill using the opportunity to click a photo with Rishabh.

The photo was captioned: "A special guest in our dressing room!"

Pant will miss most of the cricketing action in 2023 after his devastating car accident at the end of December 2022. He is still recovering from the injuries and has undergone several surgeries and is currently doing his rehabilitation. He has been ruled out of action for 2023 which means he will miss World Test Championship (WTC) final and the ODI World Cup 2023.

DC head coach Ricky Ponting reiterated Pant's importance to the team and wanted him to be involved in the team in some manner.

"In an ideal world for me, he’d be sitting next to me in the dugout every match. But if that’s not possible, we’d like to make him part of the team in ways possible. We can have his number on our shirts or caps. Just to make it clear that he’s our leader, even if he’s not with us,” Ponting said in March.

Match report
Pant's presence in the stands did not affect the team's recent form. They lost the match by six wickets, in what was their second straight loss of the competition and their first at home since before the Covid-19 pandemic. In the previous game, DC lost to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

After being sent in to bat first, DC faltered with their batting and put up a score of 162 for the loss of eight wickets. Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan picked up three wickets each. But the Titans chased down the target with 11 balls to spare after Sai Sudharsan stayed unbeaten on 62 off 48 with four fours and two sixes.
