Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Yashasvi Jaiswal won the approval of Virat Kohli after the left-handed batter smashed the fastest half-century in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as their team secured a 9-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday. Jaiswal put on a stunning show of big-hitting in the Royals' win at Eden Gardens on Thursday, May 11.

Jaiswal reached his fifty in just 13 balls, the fastest in the tournament history as he broke a joint record held by KL Rahul and Pat Cummins. Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 98 in just 47 balls, hitting 5 sixes and 13 boundaries.

It turned out to be an easy chase, as the 21-year-old set the tone for Rajasthan Royals' 150-run chase, hitting 26 in the first over bowled by Nitish Rana as the KKR captain paid the price for opening the bowling attack himself.

Yashasvi Jaiswal missed his second century of the season by just 2 runs as he remained unbeaten on 98 when the Royals chased down the 150-run target in just 13.1 overs. Yashasvi put on a display of pure batting, taking on both spin and pace.

After watching his innings, India's batting stalwart Virat Kohli took to Instagram to share a story, praising the young batter's sensational 98 that helped him go past 500 runs in the IPL 2023 season.

"Wow, this is some of the best batting I have seen in a while. What a talent," Virat Kohli wrote in his Instagram story. Yashasvi Jaiswal's blitz and Sanju Samson's 48 not out helped Rajasthan race to the target that they moved to the 3rd spot in the IPL 2023 points table.

Rajasthan Royals have a positive NRR and 12 points as they brought themselves firmly back into the playoffs contention.
