The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) suffered a very narrow one-wicket loss at the hands of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) who were at their best with the bat at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Monday, April 10. It was a match filled with drama, especially in the final over with LSG needing five off the last over for the win.

Chasing 213, LSG's middle-order batter Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran smashed quickfire half-centuries to take their side close to the required total. But then, the wicket of Pooran off Mohammed Siraj's bowling completely turned the tide and in the end, they needed to score five off Harshal Patel's final over of the match.

It was a brilliant over which saw him take the wickets of Mark Wood and Jaydev Unadkat. With one wicket required to win the match for RCB, Harshal attempted to mankad the non-striker who was Ravi Bishnoi but failed in his attempt. He then got the batter run-out but it did not count.

The run-out at the non-striker's end, which is now considered legal, did not count on this occasion as the bowler can not run the batter on the non-striker's end if he has completed the bowling action. The bowler must be inside the crease or should not have completed the bowling action. But Harshal did not do that and instead, threw the ball onto the stumps from outside the crease after completing the bowling action. This is why he was denied the run-out.

Eventually, on the final ball of the match, Harshal beat Avesh but still took the run. Karthik didn't collect cleanly and Bishnoi was already halfway down. The fumble allowed Avesh to reach the other end as the duo began fierce celebrations after a hard-fought victory.

Earlier, RCB captain Faf du Plessis carried the bat for his team with a blistering innings of 79 runs from 46 balls to take his team's total to an impressive 212 runs during their match against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

He first started the innings with a partnership of 96 runs alongside the prolific Virat Kohli and then went on to combine with Australian Glenn Maxwell, who himself smashed 59 runs off 29 balls at a strike rate of 203.44.

Du Plessis hit 5 fours and as many sixes during his long innings that spanned across the 20 overs of their batting.
