Trent Boult had a field day against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as he got Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) noses in front in the first two overs itself. With the first ball, Boult came round the wicket and bowled a massive inswinger to get through KL Rahul’s defences and uproot the stump. In the post-match presentation ceremony, Boult revealed that it was his New Zealand teammate Jimmy Neesham’s idea to go with the plan against Rahul.

“It was a late call at breakfast, and it was Jimmy Neesham's idea to go with that plan against KL Rahul. I don't want to give him too much credit (laughs),” the Kiwi speedster said after RR’s three-run win over LSG.

After getting Rahul out for a golden duck, Boult bowled a wide to new batter Krishnappa Gowtham, who as promoted up the order. On the next delivery, the left-arm pacer bowled from over the wicket and another inswinger got him the wicket. Gowtham got out for a golden duck as he got trapped in front of the stumps.

“My role with the new ball is to take as many wickets as possible. It's a pretty simple game for me at the top and get it to swing. The humidity and the overheads assisted it,” Royals’ fast-bowling spearhead added.

The 32-year-old also lauded debutant Kuldeep Sen, who defended 15 runs against Marcus Stoinis in the final over. He also revealed that the two have had very limited conversation.

“Limited English from Kuldeep, he runs in hard though. He executed it well in the end and he is only going to get better. Some quality fast bowling in our side and in the tournament going around,’ Boult further said.

Boult finished with 30/2 in his quota of four overs. Earlier, he got a chance to bat as well in the final over. After Riyan Parag's wicket off the penultimate over of the innings, Boutl got a couple of runs off the final delivery bowled by Jason Holder.

On the receiving end of Boult’s inswinger, Rahul revealed that he could not sight the ball coming in to him.

“I didn't see it (the ball that got him from Boult), if I did I could have done something about it. Have to give it to him. Was a good ball,” The LSG skipper said.

RR skipper Sanju Samson revealed that Boult had a sudden change of plan to bowl round the wicket when he was handed with the new ball.

“(Boult) Came to me before first ball, told me 'Sanju change of plan, I'm going to go around the wicket, and going straight in his legs and hit that bowled’,” Samson said.
