Rajasthan Royals (RR) suffered a humiliating 112-run defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Sunday (May 14) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Riding on Faf Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell's splendid fifties RCB posted a challenging total of 171/5. In reply, IPL 2022's runners-up were bowled out for a measly 59 to claim an embarrassing record against their name. The Men in Pink recorded the third-lowest total in the history of IPL. Wayne Parnell ripped through the RR's batting lineup and brought them to their knees with his spectacular bowling which boasted of a bowling figure of 3/10.
After the game, the franchise's Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara gave an inspirational speech to his players inside the dressing room where he urged them to learn from mistakes and put their best foot forward in the next game. In the video shared by RR on its Twitter handle, Sangakkara can be heard lifting the spirits of his players after they sustained an embarrassing defeat.
"We've got one more game to play. No amount of speaking and telling and doing all of that will resolve any of the issues that we have, something that we've got to step up and do. Right? Irrespective of what happens in other games, we have one more game to play and win. So, that's all I want you [to] think about. Learn from this. Just move on. All right? I can see the hurt and disappointment," Sangakkara said.

"All right boys, no individual names today. Know a lot of you guys tried hard and did well. But let's get together for one more game when we get to Dharamsala," concluded Sangakkara.
The inaugural champions skittled to sixth place in the points table after losing the game against RCB. The franchise has six wins and seven losses after playing 13 matches this season. They need to win their last game of the campaign and hope other permuations and combinations fall in their favour. Only then, RR will have a chance to make the playoffs.Â
