In a high-voltage contest at Wankhede Stadium on April 30, Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma fell for a single-digit score. In his first over of the innings, Sandeep Sharma bowled to Rohit with wicketkeeper standing up. With the last ball of his first over, Sandeep beat Rohit’s bat and with a knuckleball as it grazed the top of off stump.

The dismissal caused uproar on social media as MI fans felt that Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson had removed the bails. They shared screenshots of the dismissal from the front and felt that Rohit had been wrongfully adjudged out as the bails did not automatically light up as soon as the bal went past the stumps.

However, a day later Indian Premier League (IPL) Twitter handle shared the video of Rohit’s dismissal with all possible angles to show that Samson’s gloves were nowhere near the stumps and the zing bails lit up slightly late.

This was the fifth time Sandeep dismissed Rohit in the IPL. Rohit has struggled against the pacer. He has scored 38 runs from 44 balls at an average of 7.6 and a strike rate of 86.36.

On his 36th birthday, Rohit got out after scoring just three runs from five balls in the run chase of 213 at home. However, Rohit had the last laugh as Tim David's whirlwind knock including three consecutive sixes in final over saw MI achieve their highest successful run chase.

Earlier, Cameron Green's 26-ball 44 and Suryakumar Yadav's 29-ball 55 set the platform for the record run chase at the venue.

After the match, Rohit lauded David for his whirlwind unbeaten 14-ball 45 under pressure.

“Very pleasing to see how we chased this. Last game here also we came close to a similar target. We have the ability but need to back ourselves. (On David being next Pollard) Big shoes to fill, Polly for so many years won us so many championships. But Tim has so much ability and power. In the back end, having that power keeps the bowler thinking,” Rohit said.

Rohit also heaped praises on Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Yashasvi Jaiswal who scored his maiden IPL century to help Royals post 212/7.

“I watched him last year, this year he has taken his game to a new level. I asked him where all that power is coming from, he says he is spending time at the gym, he's timing them really well. Good for him, good for Indian cricket and good for RR as well,” he said.
