The Rajasthan Royals (RR) were stunned by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bowlers when the visiting side were kept to just 59 runs during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday's (May 14) first game of the third-last double header of the season.

Chasing 171 for the win, they have suffered a 112-run loss and will suffer a major hit on their impressive Net Run Rate (NRR).

It was complete domination from the get-go. Their bowlers, led by South African Wayne Parnell put up a scintillating display to bowl out RR in just 10.3 overs. He took three wickets for just 10 runs in three overs as the other bowlers in his distributed the wickets among themselves. Michael Bracewell (2/16)and Karn Sharma (2/19) picked two wickets each, while Mohammed Siraj (1/10) and Glenn Maxwell (1/3) got a wicket each.

Their batting hero Yashasvi Jaiswal was the first to fall and was Siraj's first and only wicket of the game for a duck. His opening partner Jos Buttler was the second player to lose his wicket in the game, going for his fourth duck of the season, as an imminent collapse ensued for the IPL 2022 finalists.

Parnell got his second of the game to send skipper Sanju Samson back two balls later and RR reeling on 7/3. After that, it was utter destruction by the RCB bowlers.
RCB continued to hurt RR in what was a must-win game, thanks to Parnell and Bracewell. Joe Root had a forgettable first-ever outing with the bat in the IPL as Parnell trapped him LBW for 10. Shimron Hetmyer provided the only moment of scare for the bowlers, hitting Karn Sharma for three consecutive six but then Maxwell got him in the 10th over to dismiss him for 35 runs.

Earlier, Faf du Plessis and Maxwell's fifties helped RCB to 171/5. On a spin-friendly pitch, openers Virat Kohli and du Plessis struggled to find boundaries against Sandeep Sharma and Adam Zampa. Du Plessis finally started to open his arms in the fourth over by charging Zampa for a boundary followed by the first six of RCB's innings.

Captain Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell struck half-centuries as Royal Challengers Bangalore posted a challenging 171 for 5 against Rajasthan Royals in their Indian Premier League match here on Sunday.

Opting to bat, du Plessis (55 off 44 balls) and Maxwell (54 off 33 balls) continued their strong form on a slower pitch but the Royals produced a disciplined bowling effort to stop RCB to a competitive total.
Anuj Rawat hit 29 not out off just 11 balls down the order to take the RCB total past the 170 mark as they added 51 runs in the last five overs.
