After defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) handed a crushing defeat to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the last game of the regular season, Hardik Pandya's men did a big favour to five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI). Rohit Sharma's men qualified for the playoffs after GT's win while RCB bowed out of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. Virat Kohli scored a phenomenal century but his incredible knock of overshadowed by Shubman Gill, who also registered back-to-back tons in the IPL.

With so much riding on the last day, the cash-rich tournament provided yet another day of exhilarating cricket as millions of cricket fans around the world marveled at the performance of three contrasting, yet phenomenal batters. For the first time in IPL history, three batters scored a century on a single day. Mumbai Indians' Cameron Green, Royal Challengers Bangalore's Virat Kohli and Gujarat Titans' Shubman Gill played spectacular knocks to provide a fitting finish to the regular season.

Former India captain and legendary batter, Sachin Tendulkar lauded the performance of all three batters in a cheeky tweet. The Mumbai Indian's mentor said Green and Gill played well for the Men in Blue.

"Cameron Green and Shubman Gill batted well for Mumbai Indians. Amazing innings by Virat Kohli too to score back-to-back 100s. They all had their methods and were in a class of their own. So happy to see MI in the playoffs. Go Mumbai," Sachin wrote on Twitter.

Talking about Gill, the right-handed elegant batter Gill was the main aggressor for GT as he took the game by the scruff of its neck. He was the best batter for his team and combined with Vijay Shankar for a partnership of 123 runs in just 71 balls. Shankar smashes 53 runs off just 35 balls after Gill completed his 50 in just 29 balls.

After this, Dasun Shanaka (0) and David Miller (6) fell cheaply but this did nothing to dampen the spirits of Gill. He kept the pressure on the RCB bowlers up to the very end and finished the match with the first legal ball of the final over off Wayne Parnell's bowling.

After a couple of wides and a no-ball, Shubman, on 98, hit the ball out of the park for a six to finish the game, and the league stage in an exceptional manner. The GT opener remained unbeaten on 104 runs off 52 balls with the help of five fours and eight sixes.
