Virat Kohli is always animated on the field but during last week's clash against Delhi Capitals (DC), he was more aggressive in the field and off-the-field. Kohli celebrated his half-century in an aggressive style and then after Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) comfortable 23-run win, the main controversy took place. Kohli and DC’s Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly avoided each other during customary handshake. Kohli and Ganguly have had history as the former had claimed that there was no proper communication when he was stripped off ODI captaincy by the ex-BCCI President.

DC's assistant coach Shane Watson was asked about the controversy that erupted last week on 'The Grade Cricketer' podcast. Watson did not want to comment on rumours as he said, “It could be rumour mongering, but I'm not sure. So, it's not something I want to get involved in.”

“But there was definitely some fire in Virat's belly, that's for sure. For an opposition point of view, that's the last thing you need as well. Virat, when he's like that, that's when he's at his absolute best. Whatever reason that was, I'm not exactly sure,” the former Australian all-rounder further added.

After the incident, there were also reports of the two unfollowing each other on Instagram.

Kohli scored 50 runs from 34 deliveries at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Later, he took three catches as well and was adjudged 'Player of the match'. It was DC’s fifth defeat in a row as their batting lineup continued to falter.

Kohli has been in stupendous form this season. He is one of the contenders for Orange Cap with 279 runs to his name from six innings at an average of 55.80 including four half-centuries.

Against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Mohali, Kohli scored another half-century. He led RCB in the absence of their skipper Faf du Plessis who scored a fantastic 56-ball 84 but was not fit to field.
