Yuzvendra Chahal equals Dwayne Bravo's record, creates history to become joint-highest wicket-taker in IPL

Rajasthan Royals (RR) veteran leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal scripted history on May 7 (Sunday) during the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Chahal became the joint-highest wicket-taker in the Indian Premier League after tying Dwayne Bravo's record of 183 wickets. The Indian leg-spinner claimed the milestone after bagging four wickets against the Sunrisers on Sunday. Chahal delivered an impeccable spell and finished with figures of 4/29 in four overs but his heroics with the ball was not enough for the Royals to register a win.

Chahal now has 183 wickets in 142 matches played in the cash-rich tournament. Bravo took 161 matches to bag the same number of wickets. Piyush Chawla, who is enjoying a stellar season with the ball playing for the Mumbai Indians, is third on the list with 174 wickets in 175 matches played in the glitzy league.

Chahal, who won the Purple Cap last season, made his IPL debut in a decade ago in 2013. From thereon, the majestic spinner went on to represent three franchises - Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals - in the IPL. Chahal's most prolific season with the ball came in 2022 when he finished with 27 wickets in 17 matches and played a pivotal role in Rajasthan Royals reaching the IPL final.

Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) suffered a late scare but were able to pull through and secure a victory over the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday, May 7, courtesy of some brilliant batting by their openers and then the prowess of their death-over batters Adbul Samad and Glenn Phillips. Also, Sandeep Sharma's no-ball on the last delivery of the match turned out to be devastating for Sanju Samson's team.
