ILT20: Akeal Hosein's magical 4-fer blows Warriors out of Sharjah, MI Emirates secure massive 106-run victory

In a lop-sided match at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, MI Emirates secured a decisive 106-run victory over Sharjah Warriors in the second season's ninth game of the DP World ILT20. This triumph was largely attributed to Akeal Hosein's exceptional left-arm spin bowling, which left the Warriors struggling at a mere 74 runs.

Hosein's remarkable bowling performance, marked by both precision and guile, concluded with an impressive 4/23, dismantling the Warriors' lineup in just 12.1 overs. His spell played a pivotal role in curtailing the Warriors, who were pursuing a challenging target set by MI Emirates.

Earlier in the game, MI Emirates had established a strong foundation, scoring 180/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Andre Fletcher was a standout performer, contributing a robust 42 runs off 31 balls, including four boundaries and two sixes. Kusal Perera matched Fletcher's score, hitting an equally impressive 42 runs off 25 balls, which included three boundaries and three sixes. Their partnership was crucial, amassing 93 runs off 56 balls for the second wicket.

MI Emirates' captain Nicholas Pooran also played a vital role, scoring a quickfire 37 runs off 29 balls, featuring two sixes and a boundary. Despite these efforts, Sharjah Warriors’ Muhammad Jawadullah managed to make an impact, claiming three wickets for 31 runs.

The Warriors' chase was off to a rocky start, hampered by early wickets. Hosein's skill was evident when he bowled out Johnson Charles in the very first over. Trent Boult complemented Hosein's efforts by taking out Tom Kohler-Cadmore. The Warriors tried to stabilize their innings with Martin Guptill and Niroshan Dickwella adding 33 runs, but Boult struck again, leading to Dickwella's dismissal.

Hosein continued his destructive form in his eighth over, removing Joe Denly and Basil Hameed in quick succession, and then claiming Daniel Sams. Chris Woakes narrowly escaped being Hosein's hat-trick victim after a successful review.

MI Emirates had a shaky start to their innings, losing opener Muhammad Waseem early. However, Fletcher and Perera's aggressive batting, including multiple sixes, set the tone for their innings. Despite losing both set batsmen in quick succession, Pooran and Ambati Rayudu kept the scoreboard ticking. Jawadullah's late strikes brought some relief for the Warriors, but it wasn't enough to stop MI Emirates from setting a challenging total.
