India's hero in the final T20I against New Zealand was Shubman Gill, who smashed his first century in the shortest format of the game to help his team to an unassailable total of 234/4. Gill carried the bat with his innings of 126 runs off 63 as the Men in Blue then went on to dismiss their opponents for a paltry 66 and win the deciding T20I of their three-match series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad by 168 runs on Wednesday (February 1).

Gill, who has now hit four centuries in a month, enjoyed the victory with a goofy video alongside his Indian T20I opening partner Ishan Kishan, and Yuzvendra Chahal.

The player put a reel on Instagram a day after the mega victory and he can be seen engaging in hilarious banter with his two teammates. The trio were impersonating the popular show Roadies in their hotel room, with Gill putting the caption, 'Roadies reloaded via recreating our favourite moment'.

On Wednesday, Gill became the youngest Indian batter to score a century in T20I cricket when the 23-year-old scored his unbeaten 126. He broke the record of former Indian batter Suresh Raina, who scored his only T20I ton when he was 23 years and 156 days old.

The in-form Indian opener is also the second-youngest batter to hit a century in all formats. Pakistan's Ahmed Shehzad achieved the rare feat when he was 22 years and 146 days old.

Gill also broke Virat Kohli's T20I record for the highest individual score by an Indian in the format. Kohli scored an unbeaten 122 against Afghanistan in 2022 to end his drought of centuries. It is also the eighth-highest individual score in T20I history. He took 54 deliveries to reach his maiden T20I ton in his sixth appearance in the format, reaching the ton with a boundary off Lockie Ferguson in the 18th over.
