The West Indies all-rounder has not been in form in the ongoing season.

Paarl Royals's West Indies recruit Fabian Allen was mugged in Johannesburg outside the team hotel in the ongoing SA20 League. Following the incident, the franchise gave an update about Allen's well-being. The franchise said that he will be available to play in the eliminator clash against Joburg Super Kings at The Wanderers Stadium on February 7.

"...Paarl Royals would like to state that the West Indian all-rounder is safe, and enjoying his time at the SA20 as he, along with his teammates and support staff, prepares for the all-important Eliminator on Wednesday," the franchise said in a statement on February 6.

"The franchise works closely with the league to ensure the safety and well-being of its players and staff, while also allowing them to have free personal time as well.

"Following the incident, the player was provided with the necessary support by the franchise and the league, and was keen to continue his participation at the SA20, and has since been available for selection (twice also featuring in the playing XI for the Royals)," it added.

The robbers took Allen's phone, and personal belongings, including a bag near Sandton Sun Hotel.

The 28-year-old made his last appearance for Paarl Royals against Durban's Super Giants on January 28. He conceded 33 runs from three overs and took one wicket. With the bat, he could score just three runs from five balls before losing his wicket to Keshav Maharaj. Paarl Royals were bowled out for 83 and lost the match by a massive margin of 125 runs.

Allen has not been in the best of forms this season. From eight games, he has managed to take just a couple of wickets. His best score of an unbeaten 17 came against Joburg Super Kings. It was his best all-round performance. First, he took the wicket of Sibonelo Makhanya and then scored 17 runs from just seven balls to guide Paarl Royals to a five-wicket win with six balls to spare.
