South Africa pacer Lungi Ngidi has been added to the squad for the second and final Test of the series against India that will commence from November 22 at the Barsapara stadium in Guwahati. This comes amid fitness concerns for Kagiso Rabada, who had not played the first Test due to rib injury. Ngidi's addition to the squad suggests that Rabada is doubtful to feature in the second Test.
Ngidi has so far played a total of 20 Tests in his career, racking up 58 wickets alongwith three five-wicket hauls. His last appearance in the format came in the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia earlier this year in June. He has so far made just one Test appearance in India and it came back in 2019. Ngidi joins Corbin Bosch, Wiaan Mulder and Marco Jansen as South Africa's pace options for the second Test. It remains to be seen if the 29-year-old will get a place in the playing XI for the upcoming match or not.
Spinners steal the show in 1st Test
Meanwhile, the first Test of the series between India and South Africa was completely dominated by the spinners from both sides. The Eden Gardens pitch was nothing short of a paradise for the turners and it saw the batters struggle big time. It proved to be quite a low-scoring match as both the teams weren't able to take their total over the 200-run mark in any of the four innings.

For South Africa, a total of 12 scalps were racked up by the spinners while the rest of the six were taken by the seamers. Simon Harmer proved to be the pick of the bowlers, clinching eight wickets during the match while Jansen also contributed immensely with five scalps. This sensational bowling effort helped the Proteas record a 30-run victory over the Men in Blue in Kolkata.
India hoping to level up the series
The second and final Test of the series between India and South Africa will commence from November 22 at the Barsapara stadium in Guwahati. It will be essential for the Men in Blue to win this match in order to avoid a series defeat at home to the Proteas.
