As the second-oldest cricketer to debut in the T20 International format, Joanna Child made history. On April 7 at Albergaria, the 64-year-old played for Portugal in the opening match of their T20I series against Norway. Child moved into second place on the all-time list, surpassing Andrew Brownlee of the Falkland Islands (62 years, 145 days) and Mally Moore of Cayman (62 years, 25 days). She now only lags behind Sally Barton of Gibraltar, who made her debut aged 66 years and 334 days.
Despite her quiet start, scoring only two runs before being dismissed, Portugal was able to secure a victory by defending their goal of 110 runs. Joanna helped her team defeat Norway 2-1 in the series and was kept in the starting lineup for the second and third Twenty20 Internationals.

Joanna has made no more documented competitive performances outside of this series, but her admirers have praised her on social media for her inspirational, timeless achievement.
Joanna played for a vibrant Portuguese team with a wide age range. Additionally, the team featured 16-year-old Mariam Waseem, 16-year-old Afsheen Ahmed, and 15-year-old Ishreet Cheema, resulting in a special fusion of youth and experience.
Joanna contributed two runs in the first game of the series and bowled four deliveries while giving up 11 runs. Fans were moved by her accomplishment, despite the low numbers, and praised her bravery and spirit of competition.
