Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant made the decision of changing his birth date on social media from October 4, 1997, to January 5, 2023, sending his fans into a frenzy on social media. The wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has not made an official statement on why he did this but many believe that it was the date that Pant might have had his surgery on after his fatal accident in December.

Pant survived a horrific car accident on the morning of December 30, 2022, and after undergoing several surgeries, his recovery has been slow but promising.

From walking with the help of crutches to having trouble walking up the stairs to now finding it relatively easy to do basic things, Pant has come a long way. On June 14, Pant shared a ‘before and after’ video of him walking up the stairs one step at a time to now doing it normally.

Meanwhile, his fast recovery has left the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the medical staff at National Cricket Academy (NCA) surprised, as per a report by ESPNCricinfo. According to the current pace of recovery, Pant may just be ready in time for the ODI World Cup 2023 at home.

During his rehabilitation, Pant has kept a positive approach instead of focusing on the negatives as he missed the entire Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season for Delhi Capitals (DC), Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 and the all-important WTC final against Australia.

Under the guidance of physio S Ranjikanth, Pant has been able to walk up and down the stairs without any support or visible pain. Currently, the focus is to increase his overall mobility. Aqua therapy, light swimming and table tennis have also become an integral part of his rehab.
