Indian cricketer Vijay Shankar who was picked by Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction for Rs 1.20 crore smashed three sixes against Hardik Pandya in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024 clash between Barods and Tamil Nadu at Holkar Stadium in Indore.

After being asked to bat, the Shahrukh Khan-led Tamil Nadu side scored 221 runs in 20 overs where N Jagadeesan was the highest run-getter with 57 off 32 knocks and Vijay Shankar played an unbeaten knock of 42 runs in 22 balls. Hardik was expensive as he was wicketless and conceded 44 runs in three overs. However, Tamil Nadu lost that match by three wickets as Hardik smashed 69 off 30.

Shankar who made his India debut in February 27, 2019, against Australia in T20I has been sidelined from the squad after he failed to perform in national colours. The all-rounder has played 12 ODIs and 9 T20Is where he scored 223 and 101 runs along with 4 and five wickets in white ball formats respectively.
