India cricketing legend Yuvraj Singh shared a heartfelt message for his mentee Abhishek Sharma after the young batter made a strong comeback following four forgettable outings in the T20 World Cup 2026. Notably, Abhishek Sharma scored scored a hard-hitting 55 off 30 balls to provide early momentum along with Sanju Samson.
Abhishek Sharma's poor start in T20 World Cup 2026
The 25-year-old batter who played a crucial role in India's Asia Cup title win was out on three consecutive ducks in his first three outings of the T20 World Cup, and after that, he managed to score 15 runs in a Super 8 tie against South Africa.

India defeated Zimbabwe
However, India bounced back in their second Super Eight clash against Zimbabwe which was a must-win game to stay in contention for the semifinals. The Men in Blue sealed a convincing 72-run victory, knocking Sikandar Raza’s side out of the T20 World Cup 2026.

India's batting against Zimbabwe
After struggling badly against South Africa in the previous match, the Indian batters looked much more confident in Chennai. Sanju Samson gave the team a quick start with 24 runs off just 15 balls. Abhishek Sharma then stepped up and smashed his maiden T20 World Cup fifty. Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav added important runs in the middle overs. Later, Hardik Pandya’s unbeaten 50 off 23 balls and Tilak Varma’s explosive 44 from just 16 deliveries powered India to a massive total of 256/4 in 20 overs.

Soon after the match, Yuvraj Singh took to Instagram to praise Abhishek’s effort. He wrote, “The best chatter is when you let the bat do all the talking! Good innings sir Abhishek, keep pushing.”

Abhishek Sharma was also looking happy after smashing his maiden T20 World Cup half-century. During mid innings the southpaw lauded Team management for backing his game and said that he had been waiting for the moment when he could contribute to the team’s success.

India will now face West Indies in their last Super 8 clash of the T20 World Cup 2026 which will take place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 1. This will be a do-or-die clash for both teams to seal their semifinal berth.
