Glenn Maxwell equaled Rohit Sharma's World Record with his fifth century in the shortest format of the game. Glenn Maxwell hammered a stunning century in the second T20I between Australia and West Indies at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday, February 11.

Maxwell belted 120 runs off 55 deliveries riding on eight sixes and 12 boundaries, propelling Australia to their highest T20I total against the West Indies - 241/4 in 20 overs at the Adelaide Oval.

Maxwell clobbers century in parents' presence

With his parents in attendance, Maxwell showcased an impressive display of power-hitting, leaving the West Indies bowling attack struggling to contain him. This marked Maxwell's second century in T20Is in his last three appearances in the format, underlining his consistent prowess with the bat.

Last year, Glenn Maxwell had matched Rohit Sharma's record at the pinnacle of the prestigious list when he scored an unbeaten 104 against India in Guwahati. However, the Indian captain surged ahead by notching a century against Afghanistan earlier this January. Determined to level the score with the Mumbai Indians star, Maxwell delivered a spectacular performance in Adelaide.

In Adelaide, Maxwell showcased his diverse range of strokes with sweeps, reverse-sweeps, and powerful hits to the mid-wicket boundaries, captivating the audience with his exceptional display.

Glenn Maxwell relished the ambience in Adelaide, expressing that his century, witnessed by his parents, broke a spell. He disclosed that he hadn't experienced memorable performances in the past when his parents were in attendance watching him play.

"It's nice, got my parents here as well. I have had a few cursed Adelaide trips with them coming over to watch me. I broke my leg the last time they tried to come over to Adelaide. So it's nice to have made this a positive one," Maxwell told the broadcasters after his sensational 120.

The West Indies won the toss and elected to bowl in their crucial match, and they quickly claimed the early wicket of opener Josh Inglis.

Captain Mitchell Marsh provided a strong start for Australia during the powerplay, scoring 29 runs off just 12 balls before being dismissed by Alzarri Joseph. David Warner struggled to find his rhythm and was eventually bowled out for 22 off 19 deliveries by Romario Shepherd.

However, Glenn Maxwell, supported by Marcus Stoinis and Tim David, took charge and dismantled the West Indies bowling attack single-handedly, guiding Australia to a formidable total of 241 runs, their fourth-highest score in T20I cricket.
