Pace maestro Jasprit Bumrah stormed into the history book right after completing 50 Tests for India. Right after being named in India's playing XI for the second Test against West Indies, Jasprit Bumrah became the first ever Indian pacer to feature in 50 matches across formats.

Jasprit Bumrah grabs another big record

Following a hard-fought drawn Test series in England, the Shubman Gill-led Indian team is currently enjoying a dominant run in their home series against the West Indies. After securing a convincing victory in the first Test in Ahmedabad, the team continued its commanding performance on Day 1 of the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Yashasvi Jaiswal led the charge with a stupendous yet unbeaten 173 which was well-supported by Sai Sudharsan's robust 87.

Amidst the team's success, Bumrah set his own record by featuring in the second Test match, marking his 50th appearance in the format. With this latest feat, he has become the first Indian pacer to have featured in 50 or more Test matches and played across all three international formats (Tests, ODIs, and T20Is). Even the likes of Kapil Dev, Zaheer Khan, Anil Kumble, and Harbhajan Singh couldn't clock this feat, due to the absence and lack of T20I cricket during much of their respective eras.

Bumrah has been selected for the upcoming tour to Australia, though his participation will be limited to only the shortest format of the game. He recently spearheaded the Indian pace attack during the Asia Cup 2025. Bumrah’s partial unavailability for the Australian tour is a result of workload management. Having played in the rigorous England series, the Asia Cup, and now the home series against the West Indies, the team management is keen to avoid burnout. By featuring only in the shortest format, Bumrah is keeping his focus firmly on preparing for and participating in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

Talking about the ongoing second Test against West Indies, India rode on Jaiswal's superlative 173 and Sudharsan's well-crafted 87 to pile 318/2 by the close of Day 1.
